Today's Scripture

And as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”

Mark 1:16–17, NKJV

Follow Him

IGMA Team, none of the men whom Jesus called to be His disciples were rabbis, priests, or Old Testament scholars. Peter and Andrew were rough fishermen whom He called to leave their fishing nets and follow Him. They had flawed characters, and there was nothing outwardly that hinted they could become world changers. They must have thought, “You can’t mean us. We’re just common fishermen with all these weaknesses.” We often think as they did, “Not me, God. I’m too flawed. I’ve failed too many times. I’m unworthy and never measure up.” But Jesus was saying to them and to us, “I know who you are, but it’s not up to you to change yourselves. Your part is to follow Me, to keep Me first place and be willing to change. My part is to make you into the people I’ve called you to be. I will mold and refine you and make you into people with great character, integrity, and discipline. I will teach you, bring out your talents, and make you into the masterpieces I created you to be. I will do something awesome with your life.”

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You for calling me to come and follow You and become the person You created me to be. Thank You that You will make me into that person, and that it’s not up to me to change myself. I declare that I will follow You wherever You lead and keep You first place. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
