High Maintenance

IGMA Team, it can be really difficult when someone whom you’re close to, someone you love, a family member or friend, is a high maintenance person. They seem to always be having an emergency. They blow situations out of proportion, create all kinds of drama, and then they call you to come in and rescue them. When you don’t do what they expect, they get upset and try to shame you, telling you all they’ve done for you and how you need to fix whatever is going wrong.

Don’t buy into that. God didn’t create you to be controlled by other people.

Yes, be loving and helpful, but you have to put a boundary up or they’ll pull you into their drama over and over again. The enemy will try to use them to keep you from your purpose by stealing your time and energy. It’s time to break free.

You have to put your foot down and say, “I love you, but I’m not coming to your rescue. You have to fix your own problems. I’m not going to sacrifice my joy trying to keep you happy.”

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that You did not make me to be controlled by others and try to rescue them from their personal problems. I want to be loving and kind and help others who are in real need, but help me to be bold and cut the strings of those who would manipulate and control me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
