Let It Die

IGMA Team, one of the seven things the Scripture says that God hates is someone who sows discord, someone who’s always stirring up division, saying things they know are going to cause strife, jealousy, or damage a reputation. “Hate” is a strong word. It could have said that God dislikes it, but He doesn’t take this lightly.

I read this quote: “Have you heard a word against your neighbor? Then let it die within you.” This is saying that when you hear some gossip about someone you know, or a friend gives you inside information about someone who failed, cheated, or got into trouble, don’t call three friends or post it on the internet and expose them. If that information is not beneficial and just puts them in a bad light, don’t repeat it. Let it die within you. This is going to show what kind of person you are. Are you an honorable person who stays on the high path and covers others’ faults? Or are you a busybody who stirs up trouble, spreads bad news, and feeds off others mistakes and failures. That’s not you. Keep it to yourself.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You for such a clear word of warning to guard my words against sowing discord and division.

Thank You for all the people You have placed in my life to love and to serve and support them in every way that I can. Help me to let any gossip or damaging information about others die within me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
