When Heaven Is Silent

Team, when Jesus was baptized at the beginning of His ministry, He heard His Father’s voice loud and clear. But on the way to the cross, when He was in the most difficult time of His life, He prayed three times in the Garden of Gethsemane for God to take the cup of suffering from Him, but the heavens were silent.

🤫 Not a word. Silence. In that moment, Jesus had to trust what His Father had spoken in the past and believe that the Father’s will was the best.

You don’t get to choose all the paths you travel. Sometimes God will take you down a difficult path that’s filled with adversity. You didn’t choose it. You liked the good times of His favor, but this trouble chose you. If God is being silent in that moment, it doesn’t mean that He’s not there. That’s a test. That’s when you show God that you’re going to trust Him even when you don’t hear Him and even though nothing is changing. When heaven is silent, you have to go back to what God has already promised you.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that Your plan for my life is always the best and I never need to doubt that. Even when I don’t understand the difficult path You take me down, I choose to put my hope and trust in You. And when You seem to be silent, help me to return to what You’ve already said in the past. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
